Interview with 570 News

Several rail cars derailed in uptown Waterloo in October 2012 and a recent FOI for a list of what may have been aboard those cars was denied. On July 17, 2013 I was contacted by 570 News in Kitchener to discuss a story I had written for the Waterloo Chronicle that day outlining how a Freedom of Information request to the city for a list of materials being transported by rail through the heart of uptown Waterloo had been denied.

I spoke for about 10 minutes with host Gary Doyle about the FOI request denial, the derailment of a Waterloo train in October 2012 that sparked my investigation, and the possibility of getting these types of trains out of the city core. The discussion was somewhat anchored by the recent explosion in Lac-Megantic following the derailment of a train pulling tankers full of crude oil.

You can listen to the segment on their website. I am in the very first section, so just click play and sit back and relax.
